WHERE COLOUR FOUND ME by Izzat Dajani

Behind every collection lies another work of art: the life that shaped it.

For more than forty-five years, Izzat R. Dajani has collected art not simply to possess it, but to understand it. Through friendships with artists, encounters with collectors, conversations with gallerists, and a lifetime of looking, questioning and learning, he traces the stories, ideas and cultural histories that give artworks their deeper meaning.

“Where Colour Found Me” is a personal reflection on what it means to collect: to encounter, to engage, to preserve and, ultimately, to become part of a continuing cultural conversation.

It is also a meditation on the passage of time, and on the way art can enter a life, shape its perspective and remain long after the moment of acquisition has passed.

Through it all, Dajani remains, above all, a student: of artists, of history, of culture, and of the ever-changing language of art.
