IF YOU FEEL TOO MUCH
Description of this Book
In 2006, Jamie Tworkowski was a sales rep for clothing and sports brand Hurley who wanted to do something bigger with his life. Then he met Renee Yohe, a young woman who was addicted to cocaine and was expressing her pain through self-injury. She was beginning to consider suicide. Jamie and other friends encouraged Renee to check into rehab, but they couldn't find a program that would take her. The group decided they would be her detox center. They hosted her at Jamie's apartment for five days to help her get clean enough to take the next steps toward recovery. Jamie wrote a piece about his experience with Renee with the title To Write Love On Her Arms and the piece went viral. Shortly after, the non-profit To Write Love On Her Arms was born. Jamie found the something bigger he had been searching for. Nine years later, To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA) has become an internationally recognized leader in the conversation to prevent suicide, self-injury, and addiction. In this series of inspiring essays, Jamie Tworkowski writes beautifully about being human, facing up to your fears, and acknowledging the parts of yourself that are broken and in need of healing. More than anything, If You Feel Too Much is a celebration of hope and wonder.
